Carribean 'Grass' Sea Sponge - Exfoliating Bliss

Apart from being the most luxurious way to shower or bathe - sea sponges are a healthy and natural way to gently exfoliate and cleanse your skin.  These 'grass' sea sponges are a wonderful, natural alternative to a loofah or man made sponge.   They are a smaller size than our giant sea sponge (4-5 inches) and have a more hardy exfoliant feel than our giant sponges. Use it with your favourite Holland Creek Soap for the ultimate bathing experience.  

Our Holland Creek Sea Sponges are sustainably harvest and cut by hand from the ocean floor of the Carribean.  Studies have shown that by cutting at the head and leaving the roots intact, the sponge can continue to grow encourages regeneration of the sponge. 

Our grass sponges are approximately 4-5 inches in diameter.  They still retain a hint of their 'ocean' fragrance once harvested and this is completely normal.  They will last approx 3-6 months depending on how much you use them.  Being organic, you can place them in the compost bin when they have fulfilled their life span.

Sea sponges are naturally anti-microbial.  They produce a variety of bioactive compounds that inhibit the growth of bacteria and other microbes.  What does this mean for you?  Unlike other man-made bathing sponges, Natural sea sponges are resistant to mold because they contain enzymes and natural compounds that inhibit the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria. However, make sure you rinse and wring your sponge out thoroughly after using, and leave it to dry on your shower caddy or bathroom vanity.
